Jezerce is an inland Lika village in the municipality of Plitvička Jezera, positioned beside the national park area and the D1 state road rather than on the Adriatic coast. Its chief advantage is proximity to Mukinje and southern Entrance 2, the starting point for marked routes through the Upper and Lower Lakes. Programme H combines a panoramic vehicle, walking beside the Upper Lakes, an electric-boat crossing of Kozjak and a descent through the Lower Lakes to Veliki slap, while Programme E stays within the Upper Lakes zone. Veliki slap is not inside Jezerce itself; it is visited within the protected lake area with a valid park ticket. Swimming is prohibited in Plitvice’s lakes and watercourses, so Jezerce is not a beach destination despite the aquatic associations of the wider area. Nearby Mukinje provides a bus stop and Bistro Vučnica, known for Lika pizza topped with škripavac cheese and cake made with basa. Jezerce therefore works as a base for an early park entry, a full day on the trails and a quieter return after visiting the waterfalls.
Jezerce belongs to the municipality of Plitvička Jezera and lies inland in Lika beside the main D1 road corridor. The village is functionally linked with Mukinje, the hotel zone and southern Entrance 2 of Plitvice Lakes National Park. Planning documents identify a shared settlement area around Mukinje for Plitvička Jezera and Jezerce and prescribe steep gabled roofs with stone or timber finishes for local construction. Jezerce’s character therefore comes from its mountain forest setting, guesthouses and proximity to the system of 16 Plitvice lakes, rather than from a separate town centre or waterfront promenade.

Veliki slap, the highest waterfall at Plitvice Lakes and in Croatia, is the principal sight associated with a stay in Jezerce, although it stands beside the Lower Lakes and is reached through the park system. From Entrance 2, Programme F crosses Kozjak by electric boat, continues through the limestone Lower Lakes canyon to the waterfall and climbs a steep serpentine to the viewpoints. Programme H adds the Upper Lakes and the Prštavci falls, while full-day K2 also includes newer viewpoints such as Tomićevo pogledalo. Kozjak forms the transport hub of these routes because official electric boats included with a valid admission ticket cross the lake.

From Jezerce, head to Entrance 2 and choose a route that matches the time available. Programme E takes two to three hours and covers 5.1 kilometres through the Upper Lakes, including a short electric-boat crossing of Kozjak and a return by panoramic vehicle. For a fuller day, the 8.9-kilometre Programme H takes four to six hours and links the Upper Lakes, Kozjak, the Lower Lakes canyon and Veliki slap. The longest Entrance 2 option, K2, covers 17.5 kilometres in six to eight hours. After the circuit, stop in Mukinje for a Lika pizza with škripavac cheese at Bistro Vučnica.
In neighbouring Mukinje, Bistro Vučnica stands two kilometres from Entrance 2 and is the nearest clearly documented dining option for guests based in Jezerce. Its menu includes pizzas made with Lika Quality ingredients, a Lika pizza topped with škripavac cheese, homemade sausages and basa cheesecake. Near Lake Kozjak, roughly 300 metres from the shore, the Waterfall restaurant at Hotel Jezero serves dishes based on Lika produce and has a terrace facing the greenery. During a park circuit, Bistro Kozjačka draga is beside the electric-boat landing on Kozjak, while Buffet Slap is positioned at Entrance 1.
National park tickets must be purchased for a chosen date, time and entrance, making an Entrance 2 reservation the natural option for guests in Jezerce. Electric boats on Kozjak and panoramic vehicles are included with valid admission on the marked routes. Swimming is prohibited in every park lake and watercourse, while off-road driving and the extreme sports listed in the protection rules are also banned. Carry food and water from Jezerce or Mukinje for the longer K2 or H routes, although park-run outlets operate near Kozjak and the entrances according to seasonally published schedules.
Accommodation in Jezerce generally uses private on-site parking, while lake visitors leave vehicles in the official lots at Entrance 1 or Entrance 2. Parks of Croatia lists approximately 1,000 spaces at Rastovača by Entrance 1, and the spatial plan separately records parking beside the tourism and hotel zone. Municipal documents also identify the local Jezerce–Glumac parking area and access works near the wooden-house settlement, but these do not replace the national park’s entrance lots. For a 2026 visit, use the park’s official tariff and opening information for the exact date of arrival.
Jezerce lies on the D1 road corridor between Korenica and the Plitvice entrances, making a car the most direct means of arrival. Bus travellers can use the Mukinje stop, which the local tourist board lists for services towards Zagreb; stops also stand beside both official park entrances on each side of the D1. The nearest railway station is at Vrhovine, but the Parks of Croatia portal warns that no organised public transport or taxi connects it with Plitvice Lakes. Within the lake zone, journeys continue by official electric boat and panoramic vehicle rather than by private car.
No. Veliki slap is in the Lower Lakes zone and is reached from Jezerce through an official entrance and marked park route.

Programme F takes three to four hours, while Programme H takes four to six hours and adds the Upper Lakes to Veliki slap.
