Veliki Slap lies at the end of the Lower Lakes system in Plitvice Lakes National Park, where the Plitvica stream drops into the Korana canyon. At 78 metres, it is the park’s largest waterfall and Croatia’s tallest. Its full vertical profile is best appreciated from the walking trails and viewpoints above the canyon, while the route through the Lower Lakes reveals the water continuing across tufa barriers and lakes. The park’s official sightseeing programmes include Veliki Slap, the Lower Lakes canyon and the shore of Lake Kozjak. Park admission is required; choose a route and check conditions according to the seasonal programme.
