Nerezine sits beneath the Osoršćica ridge on the road that crosses into Cres at Osor, with Mali Lošinj roughly 18 kilometres to the south. The settlement grew from hillside hamlets into a small harbour town as 19th-century families gradually moved from farming and livestock to seafaring and ship ownership. That transition is still legible around the port and along Obala nerezinskih pomoraca, where the Austro-Hungarian building occupied by Hotel Televrin faces the moorings. Trails climb straight from the village towards Osoršćica and its 588-metre summit, Televrina, making it possible to combine a mountain walk with an afternoon swim at Galboka. Local landmarks include the 1534 Church of St Mary Magdalene, the 1877 Church of Our Lady of Health and the Franciscan monastery by the sea. South of the centre, Lopari adds a beach, windsurfing instruction and sports courts, while ancient Osor is only a few kilometres away. Nerezine consequently feels less like a self-contained beach resort than a meeting point of working harbour, maritime history and island mountain landscape.
Nerezine occupies Lošinj’s eastern shore, where the slopes of Osoršćica descend towards a sheltered harbour on the Lošinj Channel. Its present form emerged mainly in the 19th century, when expanding maritime activity drew residents down from older hamlets on the hillside. Before the Second World War, local families owned around forty wooden motor sailing ships, which helps explain the prominence of the harbour and seafaring names in village life. Even Televrina, the highest point on Osoršćica, lends its name to the hotel standing beside the moorings. Rather than serving merely as a stop on the road to southern Lošinj, Nerezine brings the island’s mountain, maritime and agricultural histories together within a notably compact setting.

The Church of St Mary Magdalene was built in 1534 after the settlement expanded towards the Nerezine plain; the patron saint is celebrated locally on 22 July. Above Studenac square stands the larger Church of Our Lady of Health, completed in 1877 during a period of strong village growth. On the shoreline towards Osor, the Franciscan monastery of St Francis forms an austere cloistered ensemble with its church and the local cemetery. Osoršćica provides Nerezine’s natural landmark: Televrina reaches 588 metres, and the walking routes reveal views across Cres and the Lošinj archipelago. At the harbour, another conspicuous feature is Televrin’s Austro-Hungarian building, comprehensively renovated in 2004.
Galboka lies just beyond Nerezine on the road towards Osor and can be reached along the waterfront path from the harbour, making a car unnecessary. The same walk continues to Ridimutak, where a beach bar of the same name stands beside the bathing area. Farther south, Lopari has a long shoreline exposed to the winds used by its windsurfing school and other watersports. A smaller, rockier bathing spot beside the Franciscan monastery connects a swim with the village’s historic quarter. Lošinj’s official beach map marks Galboka, Ridimutak and Obit separately along this stretch, allowing visitors to sample several local bathing places without driving towards Mali Lošinj.
Begin at Studenac square and walk down towards the harbour, noticing façades associated with the era of Nerezine’s captains and shipowners. From the waterfront, follow the coastal path towards Galboka and Ridimutak; the latter is about a twenty-minute walk from the centre. A more ambitious day can be built around the marked ascent of Osoršćica, passing towards St Nicholas’ chapel, the mountain hut and Televrina, with sturdy footwear and ample water essential on the rocky ground. Lopari provides a less strenuous alternative through windsurfing lessons, sports courts and a floodlit 12-hole miniature-golf course. Return to the harbour at dusk, when the terrace at Televrin overlooks the village moorings.
Hotel Televrin’s restaurant stands directly on the harbour at Obala nerezinskih pomoraca, with its glazed veranda and terrace overlooking the moorings and neighbouring park. Its Mediterranean cooking and island specialities make it a natural conclusion to a walk from Studenac down to the waterfront. Restaurant Lopari belongs to the campsite between Nerezine and Osor and is particularly convenient after swimming or windsurfing along that shore. Nerezine has a limited dining scene and some businesses operate seasonally, so checking whether the kitchen is open before setting out for dinner at Lopari or Televrin is a sensible local precaution.
Nerezine uses postal code 51554, while the Town of Mali Lošinj and its tourist board publish island service contacts and visitor information. Marina Nerezine is at Biskupija bb in the southern part of the harbour, with essential shops and cafés concentrated around Studenac and the waterfront. Anyone climbing Osoršćica should carry water because the rocky route from the village gains substantial height before reaching the 588-metre summit. During summer, accommodation around the harbour or in Lopari and tables at the small number of restaurants are best arranged early; outside the main season, opening arrangements for beach facilities and seasonal kitchens should be checked in advance.
Nerezine’s public parking area covers the space by the cemetery and along Ulica nerezinskih pomoraca; a municipal document records 40 spaces, including two reserved for disabled users. Lošinj usluge places Nerezine in its open Zone 1 charging system alongside Veli Lošinj, Bočac, the health centre, Zagazinjine and Budovina. As charging periods and tariffs may change, the posted sign and the operator’s current 2026 notice are the authoritative references on arrival. For Galboka and Ridimutak, leaving the car in the village and following the coastal footpath is generally more practical than looking for a space immediately beside the bathing areas.
Nerezine lies on the island’s main road between Osor and Mali Lošinj, so drivers arrive across Cres and the short bridge at Osor. Cars reach Cres on the Valbiska–Merag or Brestova–Porozina ferry routes before continuing south by road. Arriva maintains a ticket office in Mali Lošinj, while departures serving Nerezine should be checked for the intended travel date. Jadrolinija’s catamaran from Rijeka reaches Mali Lošinj via Cres, Martinšćica, Unije, Susak and Ilovik; from the port in Mali Lošinj, Nerezine is then roughly an 18-kilometre road transfer. This combination makes the village accessible without bringing a car, although onward connections require planning.
Televrina on the Osoršćica ridge reaches 588 metres, and the ascent can begin directly in Nerezine.
