Lighthouse Vnetak

Vnetak Lighthouse was built in 1873 on the namesake, southernmost cape of Unije. Its function extends far beyond marking the local shore: this navigational aid guides traffic across the wider waters around Unije, Mali Lošinj and Cres. The complex comprises a simple single-storey stone house with a hipped roof, a circular lighthouse tower by the western façade, two stores and an engine room. The tower stands 13 metres high, with its light 17 metres above sea level. The station is automated and monitored remotely, with no resident keepers. The cape is particularly striking from the sea; anyone approaching overland should take care and respect this operational navigation facility.
