Kaštel Kambelovac is one of the seven historic settlements forming the City of Kaštela, lining Kaštela Bay between Split and Trogir. Its name comes from the Cambi brothers, Jerolim and Nikola, who built a fortified residence on a small islet in 1517 to protect themselves and the inhabitants of Lažane and Kruševik. Its cylindrical tower is unique among the Kaštela fortifications, and the old waterfront settlement grew around it. Kambelovac once contained an unusually dense group of strongholds: the Grissogono and Lipeo families also built castles here, while villagers from Kruševik erected Velika and Mala Piškera in 1525. Mount Kozjak rises behind the coast, with marked trails leading towards the medieval Church of St Michael of Lažane, the Church of St Martin of Kruševik and local mountain huts. Along the shore are Mala Punta, Baletna škola, Lapotić, Stara škola and Bilajka beaches. Promet Split’s bus 37 links the area with Split, Split Airport and Trogir, while Kaštel Kambelovac station lies on the Split–Perković railway route.
Kaštel Kambelovac grew around several defensive compounds, leaving it more elongated than settlements formed around a single castle. Its signature monument is Cambi Castle of 1517, whose cylindrical tower is unique among the seven Kaštela. An even more unusual chapter belongs to Velika and Mala Piškera, fortifications built in 1525 by villagers from old Croatian Kruševik. The present-day settlement combines a small harbour, waterfront promenade and local beaches with hiking terrain on Mount Kozjak. Kambelovac also has a strong vocal-music identity: Klapa Cambi was founded here in 1986, while the Večeri dalmatinske pisme festival brings Dalmatian harmony singing to the village in July.

Kaštel Kambelovac has a sequence of small bathing spots that can be linked on foot along the waterfront. The tourist board lists Lapotić, Baletna škola-zapad, Baletna škola, Mala Punta, Stara škola and Bilajka. Baletna škola and Mala Punta are identified as pebble beaches, offering an easier sea entry than stretches formed entirely by concrete waterfront. Baletna škola beach lies beside the district and hotel of the same name, west of the old Kambelovac settlement. Because these bathing areas are distributed along the village shore, visitors can switch locations without driving, following the coastal walk between the small harbour, Cambi tower and the Baletna area.
Begin beside the cylindrical tower of Cambi Castle and follow the waterfront through the former fortified settlement towards the small harbour. Continue west along the shore to Mala Punta and Baletna škola beach, named after the nearby villa that housed the ballet school of Ana Roje and Oskar Harmoš after the Second World War. For a longer outing, take the marked Kozjak trail towards the Church of St Michael of Lažane and the mountain hut below Koludar. The climb to the ridge includes a smooth rock section protected by a steel cable, while the upper continuation towards 780-metre Veliki vrj is intended for experienced hikers.
Promet Split bus 37 runs between Split, Split Airport and Trogir through the Kaštela corridor, making it Kambelovac’s principal public-transport link with both cities and the airport. Timetables vary by date, so travellers in 2026 should consult the current schedule before departure. Kaštel Kambelovac railway station is on the Split–Perković line, and HŽ Passenger Transport’s 2026 timetable includes local trains calling at the station. The railway stop lies north of the waterfront centre, whereas buses follow a road closer to the built-up coastal strip. Drivers approach via the old Kaštela road, which links the seven historic settlements between Solin and Trogir.
Cambi Castle, built in 1517, has the only cylindrical tower among the historic Kaštela fortifications.
The tourist board specifically classifies Baletna škola and Mala Punta as pebble beaches.
