St. Jerome’s Church stands right by the sea on the north-west side of Stari Grad bay, beside the Eremitaž building. This small Gothic church was built before 1487, probably on older foundations, and in 1487 priest Nikola Barbeta established a residence here for hermit friars. Its western part was added in 1529 as an oratory for picokare, Dominican tertiaries. Look for the quatrefoil rose window, a relief of St. Jerome, and an inscription in Venetian dialect on the façade. The church and hospice are protected under register number Z-5086. Since 1976, the church has also housed a contemporary-art gallery.
