St. George the Martyr Church at Trsat dates from the 13th century when built by the Frankopan princes. Its first documented mention appears in the Vinodol Law Code from 1288, among Europe's oldest legal documents. The church has remained the parish church of Trsat from medieval times until today. The original building materials remained hidden in archaeological layers while its current appearance results from 19th-century restoration. The church stands below Trsat Castle. Altars of St. Sebastian and the Virgin of Carmel were added during the 16th century.
