Capuchin Church of Our Lady of Lourdes

Construction of the Capuchin Church of Our Lady of Lourdes began in 1904 following designs by engineers Giovanni Maria Cureta and Cornelia Budinich, continuing until 1929. The structure represents a double neo-Gothic basilica with rich Lombard-style polychromy, featuring the Church of Mary Comforter of Souls from 1907 and the upper Church of Our Lady of Lourdes spanning 70 meters. Venetian sculptor Urbano Bottasso and local stonemason Antonio Marietti created the sculptural elements and façade details, while renowned Rijeka painter Romolo Venucci decorated the interior with frescoes. The church features ornate polychromatic stained glass windows throughout its vaulted spaces.
