Built in 1562 as a votive chapel against plague, this baroque sanctuary occupies a modest street corner in central Rijeka. The year 1562 remains carved above its entrance, marking the fearful period when epidemic devastated the medieval city. The small chapel underwent significant restoration in 1885 according to architect G. Paulinich's design, drawing inspiration from the Cathedral's facade aesthetic. A final renovation in 1986 refreshed its interior. The church's true significance lies in its role as repository: it preserves valuable liturgical objects and religious artworks salvaged from dozens of smaller chapels built throughout Rijeka's surrounding parishes during the 18th century.
