Zala is an approximately 110-by-15-metre beach of pebbles and small stones facing Velebit, with a gentle entry and seasonal drinks, loungers and parasols. Oprna extends for roughly 120–200 metres and requires a five-to-fifteen-minute descent from the parking area; a beach bar operates there, and the eastern section is naturist. Zlatna Beach sits beneath cliffs over 60 metres high and can be reached only by boat from Punat or Stara Baška. For undeveloped coves, bring water and sun protection and arrange the return boat in advance.

Spend the morning at Zala, where the asphalt approach ends about 150 metres from the pebbles and gently shelving water. After swimming, seek out the view towards the remains of St Jerome’s Church above the cove, built over an ancient villa. Oprna involves a five-to-fifteen-minute steep descent from roadside parking and a hot climb back. Save Zlatna Beach for a boat excursion because no land route reaches the shore beneath its high cliffs. End the day with fish or lamb at Restaurant Mariana or Bistro Mul.
