The Small Roman Theatre lies behind the Archaeological Museum of Istria on the eastern slope of Pula's central hill. Its seating arrangement uses the hillside, making the relationship between stage, audience and surrounding city quite different from the Arena's open ellipse. The conserved and restored structure again hosts cultural events; its summer 2026 programme included concerts on the ancient stage. Local limestone and the theatre's position within the former city walls are important parts of its character. A walking visit approaches from Carrarina Street and Herculov prolaz, while continuing towards Kaštel connects the city's Roman performance space with its later Venetian defences.
