The Archaeological Museum of Istria is a central institution for researching and presenting the peninsula's archaeological heritage. Its building on Carrarina Street stands beside the Twin Gates and Small Roman Theatre, within a setting rich in remains of Roman Pula. Collections cover prehistory, antiquity, the Middle Ages and underwater archaeology, while the Arena and several city sites have their own visitor entrances. In September 2026, the main museum building is closed for renovation and preparation of a new permanent display. During this phase, visits focus on the museum's separate archaeological sites and exhibition venues, including Sacred Hearts and its galleries on Carrarina Street.
