Lič
About this place
Lič is a Gorski kotar village in the Municipality of Fužine, set beside broad Ličko Field and framed by Bitoraj, Viševica, Tuhobić and Preradović. Despite being labelled coastal in the supplied data, Lič is not on the sea: its waterside experiences centre on the nearby reservoirs of Lepenica, Potkoš and Bajer. The village preserves the Church of St George from 1662 and a cultural-history collection in the former school, displaying local documents, traditional clothing, liturgical objects and a reconstructed bourgeois room. The Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows stands in Ličko Field, linked to a tradition dating from 1733 and to the annual pilgrimage on 5 August; its present small church was built in 2002. Lake Lepenica, created in 1988, is used for summer swimming, while Potkoš between Lič and Fužine offers a quieter outing below Bitoraj. Lič particularly rewards walking, cycling, an interest in local heritage and an appreciation of Gorski kotar’s cooler climate; the actual seacoast lies farther towards the Crikvenica–Vinodol Riviera.
Lič spreads along Ličko Field in the Gorski kotar hinterland of Kvarner, while nearby summits overlook the village, the field, the Fužine lakes and the distant coast. The Fužine tourist board describes Lič as the municipality’s oldest settlement, already marked on Venetian maps in the 12th century. Its historic character is represented by the Church of St George from 1662, the Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows and the collection managed by the St George Ethnographic Association. Lič is not a seaside resort but a village of Gorski kotar heritage, open-field scenery and access to the lakes below Bitoraj.

Beaches
Lič has no sea beach because it lies in Gorski kotar, but summer bathing is available at nearby Lake Lepenica. Built in 1988, it is the largest artificial lake in the Fužine area and reaches a maximum depth of 18 metres; the tourist board states that its summer water temperature can rise above 23°C. Lepenica has natural access points, and the official tourism site identifies a natural beach as well as an additional bathing spot beside a hospitality venue. Potkoš, located between Fužine and Lič, is better suited to a picnic and a short waterside stop than to a conventional day on a developed beach.
Things to do
Start exploring Lič at its Cultural and Historical Collection, whose exhibits include liturgical objects, vestments and banners from St George’s Church, as well as a bell from the Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows. Continue to St George’s Church, built in 1662, in the oldest settlement of the Fužine municipality. In Ličko Polje, visit the Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows, rebuilt in 2002, then walk up Sveti Ivan hill, where a Way of the Cross and a chapel honour Pope John Paul II. The pilgrimage on 5 August coincides with the feast of Our Lady of the Snows.

Practical information
Getting there and around
Lič is linked by road to Fužine, which provides quick access to the Zagreb–Rijeka motorway; the wider Fužine area is approximately 30 kilometres from Rijeka and the Crikvenica–Vinodol coast and 22 kilometres from Krk Island. The railway crosses the Fužine district, making Fužine station useful for visitors arriving without a car. Local road transport between Lič, Fužine and Delnice has been subject to temporary suspensions, so the current connection should be checked before departure.
