Today’s Cathedral Church of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos was built on the site of an earlier Orthodox church dating from 1866. That church was destroyed in the 1944 bombing, and the new church, designed by architect Dragomir Tadić, was completed and consecrated in 1971. Knin’s building catalogue describes a stone-and-concrete sacred structure on a Greek-cross plan, shaped in historicising forms associated with Serbian Orthodox churches. It is an important landmark of Knin’s Orthodox heritage, set in an open landscaped area along Kralja Zvonimira Street. Visitors should check the service schedule and respect the quiet of the church.
