Church of Saint George

The Church of St George is a Serbian Orthodox church on Sinobadova Glavica hill in Kninsko Polje. The Eparchy of Dalmatia lists the Knin church of St George with the year 1468, while the City of Knin’s heritage strategy notes that this dating follows a long-standing tradition of its construction around that year. The same city source points to archaeological evidence of an earlier sacred presence on the site and records the 1938 restoration that gave the church its present appearance. The church preserves valuable early printed books, including editions from 1561 and 1562. It is a rewarding stop for visitors interested in the Orthodox and medieval heritage of the Knin area.
