Potomje lies in the interior of Pelješac at about 320 metres above sea level, in the Župa area southeast of Orebić. The village is traditionally associated with viticulture, particularly the Dingač and Postup sites, two of the best-known names in Pelješac wine country. Dingač vineyards occupy steep southern slopes towards the sea, while Potomje itself sits behind the ridge, explaining the importance of the tunnel opened in 1975. The tunnel brought Borak and Potočine much closer to the village and fundamentally changed access to the coast. Because of this layout, Potomje feels less like a conventional seaside resort and more like a compact place where Pelješac topography, wine-growing and transport history can all be read within a small area.
