Velika Sestrica is an uninhabited islet in the southern Pelješac Channel, at the entrance to the Korčula Channel. Its lighthouse, officially called Otočić Sestrica Vela – Korčula, was built in 1871. The light assists vessels navigating between the Pelješac and Mljet channels, and its white keeper’s building and tower are a distinctive sight from the sea. The islet is not a conventional land-based attraction; the lighthouse is usually viewed from a boat during an excursion or while sailing along the Korčula and Pelješac coasts. It appeals to visitors interested in maritime heritage, photography and open-sea scenery.
