Prirodoslovni muzej Metković

Prirodoslovni muzej Metković is based on an ornithological collection established in 1952 through ornithologist Dragutin Rucner and the Metković Hunting Society. The collection features over 340 preserved bird specimens representing 218 species out of 310 recorded on the Neretva River. The museum is housed in the former Vaga tobacco station building constructed in 1891; following thorough renovation, it officially opened on July 17, 2015. Organized in five circular rooms with the ornithological collection as its foundation, other galleries display three-dimensional models of aquatic and terrestrial habitats in the Neretva River delta.
