Buža is reached through streets south of Dubrovnik Cathedral, followed by a small opening in the city walls and steps towards the water. Stone terraces immediately beneath the ramparts take the place of a conventional beach. Lokrum fills the seaward view, while the southern defensive circuit rises overhead. This meeting of high fortifications and rocky coast makes Buža a distinctive stop between sightseeing and the sea. Its steep approach and uneven surfaces distinguish it from beaches with a shingle entrance; even without swimming, the terraces reveal a markedly different side of the old centre just beyond the walls.
