Njivice

Njivice occupies Krk’s north-western shore and historically belonged to the Omišalj castle estate, a connection preserved today within the Municipality of Omišalj. Its first known written mention dates to a 1474 deed issued by Prince Ivan VII Frankopan, while fishing, olive growing, livestock and woodland sustained the village for centuries. Tourism began to reshape Njivice in 1930, when Hotel Luka—now Jadran—and Villa Dinka opened. Today, local life follows Ribarska obala and the string of beaches at Jadran, Pod crkvu and Kijac, with the seaside Paradise Path continuing towards Malinska. Kijac is particularly practical for families thanks to pedal boats and floating attractions, and a separate section welcomes swimmers with dogs. Njivice’s fishing legacy also survives at Rivica, a family restaurant established in 1934 that still highlights fish supplied by local fishermen. Reaching the resort is unusually straightforward for an island stay: the Krk Bridge provides a road link to the mainland, while Rijeka Airport lies near neighbouring Omišalj.
