Caska lies east of Novalja in a bay closely associated with an important archaeological site. Alongside swimming, visitors encounter traces of the historic landscape, while remains of the former settlement survive both near the shore and beneath the sea. Today the beach is managed and mainly pebbly; the local tourist board notes sandy sections at the waterline and a seabed that can become deep relatively quickly. Food and drink are available nearby, but Caska’s distinctive appeal is the combination of bathing and history. It is particularly rewarding for travellers who want an ordinary beach day to include a closer look at the bay and the story of ancient Cissa.
