Kolansko blato

Kolansko Blato, also called Blato Rogoza, is a wetland in Kolan Field on Pag Island. It has been protected as a special ornithological reserve since 1988 and forms part of the Natura 2000 network, site HR2000911. Across roughly 240 hectares, open water, reedbeds, cattail stands, wet grassland, rocky pastures and farmland create an unusual habitat mosaic for a karst island. It gives birds places to breed, overwinter, and rest and feed during migration. The reserve is best experienced through quiet wildlife watching: visitors should keep to existing paths and avoid disturbing birds, especially during sensitive parts of the year.
