The Collegiate Church of the Assumption stands on Pag’s main square and is one of the key buildings of the planned Renaissance town. Its foundation stone was laid in 1443, and the long construction involved masters from Šibenik and Zadar, including Juraj Dalmatinac. The façade combines Gothic and Renaissance forms, with a large stone rose window, saintly reliefs and a richly carved portal lunette. Inside are marble altars and important sacred artworks from several periods. Because the church occupies the pedestrian heart of Pag, it is a natural starting point for exploring the town’s Renaissance urban plan and the surrounding civic and residential architecture.
