The Church of St Peter the Apostle lies beside the historic centre of Kaštel Novi, close to the Ćipiko castle. It occupies the site of the earlier church of St Peter of Klobučac, recorded in sources as early as 1185 and 1189 and associated with a Benedictine estate. The present parish church developed on the foundations of a 13th-century church, preserving the continuity of one of the oldest sacred sites on the Kaštela coast. Its detached bell tower, completed in 1860, is a prominent landmark beside Brce, the settlement’s waterfront promenade.
