Šipanska Luka is one of Šipan’s two principal settlements; Suđurađ stands on the eastern coast. The village is tied to a west-facing bay, while Šipan Field opens immediately behind the houses. That field links the harbour with Suđurađ by road through the island interior. The Rector’s Palace and summer residences of Dubrovnik families survive in the settlement, adding layers of republican administration and country-estate history to the waterfront. The Sorkočević residence belongs to this group of historic estates. Šipanska Luka is also a TP Line port for Dubrovnik and the islands of southern Dalmatia.

The Rector’s Palace above Šipanska Luka was built in 1450 and belongs to the Gothic-Renaissance architecture of Dubrovnik Republic island administration. Historical research also identifies summer residences of Dubrovnik patrician families in the village, including the Sorkočević family. St Stephen’s Church is a listed stop on the visitor route through Šipan. Together, the palace, church and estates make for a compact exploration without leaving Šipanska Luka. For comparison, Suđurađ has fortified country-house complexes, whereas Luka is distinguished by patrician estates and its Rector’s Palace.

Begin at the Šipanska Luka waterfront, then walk up to the 1450 Rector’s Palace and visit St Stephen’s Church. Continue through Šipan Field towards Suđurađ, on foot or by the island bus linking Šipan’s two settlements. Finish along Suđurađ’s waterfront and plan the return to the harbour around the local transport timetable. For an alternative arrival or departure, use TP Line’s route 9807, which connects Šipanska Luka with Dubrovnik, Mljet, Korčula and Lastovo. Check the order of calls for your travel date.
Kod Marka stands on the southern side of Šipanska Luka and is known for straightforward fish and seafood cooking. Its 2026 Gault&Millau review highlights grilled fish, sea urchins and crab prepared with olive oil, wine and herbs. Tauris sits only a few steps from the small harbour; its 2026 selection includes octopus salad, anchovies, black risotto, prawns and fish from the daily catch, accompanied by local wines. Both taverns are strongly seasonal and depend on what has been landed, so summer visitors should reserve ahead and ask immediately which fish is available that day.
Jadrolinija’s year-round route 831 links Dubrovnik, Lopud and Suđurađ on Šipan; the 2026 information gives a journey time of about one hour and 20 minutes from Dubrovnik to Suđurađ. An island bus continues from Suđurađ to Šipanska Luka across the roughly five-kilometre Šipan field. Jadrolinija also publishes a separate 2026 timetable for route 807 via Koločep, so confirm the route number, landing port and travel date when purchasing. A route 831 ticket can be used on another departure of that line on the printed date, but this does not remove the need to check the last connecting bus to Luka.
Jadrolinija’s regular Dubrovnik service docks at Suđurađ, with an island bus continuing to Šipanska Luka.
