Obrezina
About this place
Obrezina is a lowland settlement belonging to the City of Velika Gorica, positioned on Turopolje’s northeastern edge among the villages of the Šćitarjevo area. Its administrative status appears in the 2021 census, while a municipal decision adopted in 2013 adjusted the boundary by transferring part of Obrezina to Šćitarjevo. That proximity supplies the area’s strongest visitor attraction: Andautonia Archaeological Park preserves remains of a Roman town occupied between the first and fourth centuries. Visitors can see sections of a street, public baths, drainage channels and a hypocaust, while mosaics, wall paintings, vessels and jewellery help reconstruct daily life in Roman Andautonia. Obrezina also makes a practical starting point for level cycling between the Sava, Šćitarjevo and Velika Gorica; the tourist board’s Route 3 crosses nearby villages, embankments and gravel sections before reaching the archaeological park. Arriva operates local buses in the Velika Gorica area, and in 2026 the city fully subsidises the service, making journeys free once passengers obtain the required ticket.
Obrezina belongs administratively to Velika Gorica and occupies the flat belt between the city centre and the Sava-side villages. The settlement is officially listed within Zagreb County in the 2021 census, while its boundary was altered by a municipal decision in March 2013 that transferred part of its cadastral area to Šćitarjevo. Obrezina’s setting is therefore closely tied to the wider Šćitarjevo district, the Roman site of Andautonia and the road network crossing the agricultural plain. For visitors, this is not a conventional resort with sights concentrated around a centre, but a quiet local base for exploring Andautonia, the Sava embankments and Velika Gorica.

Things to do
From Obrezina, head to neighbouring Šćitarjevo and Andautonia Archaeological Park, opened in 1994 over remains of a Roman town occupied from the first to the fourth century. The exposed structures include part of a town street and public baths with a semicircular pool, drainage channels and a hypocaust heating system. Mosaics, wall paintings, ceramic and glass vessels, and bronze and silver jewellery add detail to the story of life in Andautonia. For a more active continuation, use sections of cycling Route 3, which links Velika Gorica, Lake Čiče, the Sava-side villages and Šćitarjevo through a mixture of paved roads, gravel tracks and embankment riding.
