St Spyridon’s Church in central Peroj is the principal sacred place of the village’s Orthodox community. Montenegrin Orthodox families settled in Peroj in 1657, but the Venetian Republic did not grant them permission for their own church until 1788. The building acquired its present form in 1834. Inside are icons and a 16th-century iconostasis depicting Greek saints, giving the church a distinctive artistic character. A domed bell tower, built in 1860, stands beside it, with an Orthodox cemetery behind. The church offers visitors a concise introduction to Peroj’s distinctive religious community and its long historical continuity.
