Peneda Lighthouse stands on the southern cape of Veliki Brijun Island, within Brijuni National Park. Built in 1877 to support safe navigation, the station consists of a small square stone tower, 15 metres high, and a building with ground and first floors. After the lighthouse keepers were withdrawn, the light was automated and incorporated into a remote-monitoring system. The cape is a striking maritime landmark on Veliki Brijun’s seaward side; the lighthouse serves navigation rather than interior visits. It can be viewed from the sea or from permitted parts of the island.
