Church of St. John the Baptist is a Romanesque church built at the end of the 12th and beginning of the 13th century on the site of an early Christian structure as part of a male Benedictine abbey. It is one of Trogir's important church architectural monuments, unique for its Romanesque architecture. The main portal is decorated with sculpture of the Lamb of God, suggesting it was made by Master Radovan, the author of the cathedral's monumental portal. During protective archaeological excavations in 1987 and 1989, remains of an early Christian church's apse were discovered. The church today serves as a museum of sacred stone sculptures from Gothic to Mannerist periods.
