Šibenik City Museum is housed in the former Rector’s Palace, once the seat of the city’s highest official and a building altered repeatedly between the thirteenth and eighteenth centuries. Founded in 1925, the museum’s permanent display now occupies the atrium and south wing, tracing the Šibenik area from the sixth millennium BC to the end of the eighteenth century. Archaeological sections include Danilo-culture material, Classical and Late Antique finds and medieval objects, while cultural-history collections continue the city’s story. It is a useful first stop before exploring the old town. Opening hours vary by season and should be checked against the museum’s 2026 information.
