St Clare’s former convent stands just inside Dubrovnik’s western entrance, beside Paskoje Miličević Square and the Large Onofrio Fountain. The complex belongs to the history of the Poor Clares, women’s religious life and care for abandoned children in the city. Its buildings acquired other uses after the convent ceased operating under French administration. From the square, visitors can relate St Clare’s long façade to the fountain and the Franciscan complex opposite. Activities of the Diocese of Dubrovnik still take place within the former convent, making the building part of present-day city life as well as a landmark on the approach to Stradun.
