St Blaise’s Church closes the view along Stradun towards Luža, facing Sponza Palace. The present building was consecrated in 1715 after its predecessor was destroyed by fire in 1706. Its Baroque façade, broad entrance steps and sculpture create a distinctive setting beside the city bell tower. Inside, a silver figure of St Blaise holds a model of Dubrovnik, providing an intriguing comparison with the city seen from the walls. The patron’s presence extends beyond this church: representations of St Blaise also appear on gateways and fortifications, while his feast remains part of Dubrovnik’s cultural identity.
