Minčeta is recognisable by its circular form and prominent battlements above the northern Old City. Standing where the western and northern walls meet, it demonstrates the importance of defending Dubrovnik’s landward approach. The outlook crosses the roofs towards the seaward side of the city, offering a different perspective from the lower streets around the Old Port. The area below Minčeta also contains the archaeological remains of a metal foundry associated with the Republic’s industries and defence. Rather than viewing the tower in isolation, follow the lines of the adjoining walls and outer defences as they descend towards Pile.
