Patačić Palace was built in 1764 and ranks among Varaždin’s most representative Rococo buildings. During the 18th century it was the home of the Patačić family and a centre of the city’s cultural and social life, hosting gatherings, dances and salons. Unlike many buildings in the historic core, it escaped serious damage in the great fire of 1776. Notable exterior details include the stone portal, corner oriel and the “Eye of God” motif, while wall paintings were discovered during restoration. Standing at the beginning of the former merchants’ street, it is best experienced as part of a walk through the palace-rich area around Korzo.
