Keglević Palace stands at 14 Nazorova Street, opposite Varaždin’s Old Town, on land that was once a farm estate with service buildings. This imposing Baroque residence was established in the 17th century, then acquired its present character around 1775 when Varaždin builder Jakob Erber remodelled it in the Rococo manner. Its history, architecture and conservation have been the subject of a dedicated scholarly study, underlining its place in the city’s built heritage. The palace now houses the Varaždin branch of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts, so visitors should appreciate its exterior together with the view towards the ramparts.
