Susak Lighthouse was built in 1885 on Garba, the 98-metre-high summit of Susak Island. Before it was automated in the late twentieth century, its mechanism used weights that the keeper had to wind twice every night; propane-butane was used before electrification. A crew still lives at the station. The lighthouse is not open for visits, but a marked walking route leads to it from Donje Selo. The 4.41-kilometre walk takes about one to two hours and includes a steeper ascent. From the summit, visitors get broad views over Susak and the northern Adriatic.
