Church of the Precious Blood of Jesus, Zagreb

church building in Zagreb, Croatia

About

The Parish of the Precious Blood of Jesus in Zagreb’s Kozari Bok was founded by decree in 1965 and has been served from its beginnings by Franciscans of the Croatian Province of Saints Cyril and Methodius. Its first chapel was blessed in November 1965, while an attempt to build a new church in 1966 was halted and the partly built structure demolished. The present church was begun in 1995 to a design by Krešimir Cimprešak and consecrated by Cardinal Josip Bozanić on 15 October 2000. Its altar contains relics of Blessed Alojzije Stepinac; the interior also includes a Stations of the Cross by Piero Cassentinni and stained glass by Jeronim Tišljar.
