The National Shrine of St Joseph stands in Karlovac’s Dubovac district at 36 Ruđer Bošković Street. Construction of the church began in 1968, and the Croatian Bishops’ Conference declared it the National Shrine of St Joseph of the Church in Croatia on 15 April 1987. It is dedicated to the saint chosen by the Croatian Parliament in 1687 as patron of the Croatian Kingdom, making it an important pilgrimage destination. In 2025, a bronze group of St Joseph, Mary and Jesus by sculptor Vid Vučak was installed in the courtyard. Alongside liturgical celebrations, Wednesday devotions to St Joseph give that day particular significance for pilgrims.
