St George’s Church on the western side of Tučepi is documented in 1311 and survives as a single-nave Romanesque-Gothic building with a semicircular apse. Archaeological and conservation work showed that the site was used long before the medieval church: remains include a Roman villa rustica, a Late Antique oratory and a cemetery. Painted consecration crosses survive inside, and the church was thoroughly restored in the early 1990s. It now stands within a developed coastal tourism area and can easily be visited during a seaside walk. The site is especially interesting because Roman, Early Christian and medieval phases overlap within a very compact space.
