Pokonji Dol lies east of central Hvar and is described by the tourist board as the town's largest beach, around 1.5 kilometres from the centre. The bay can be reached by a coastal walk or by car, making it a practical half-day escape from the historic core. Restaurants operate by the beach, with seasonal facilities such as loungers, parasols, kayaks and pedal boats. The open view toward the small island of Pokonji Dol and its lighthouse gives the bay a distinctive Hvar setting. It suits visitors who want swimming close to town but prefer more room than the smaller coves immediately beside the centre.
