The Parish Church of the Assumption of Mary stands in Sutivan’s historic centre and is the settlement’s principal sacred building. Constructed between 1576 and 1590, it was completed in 1585, when Sutivan became an independent parish. In 1772 the church was enlarged, raised and extended westwards. Its larger bell tower, with open loggias and an unusual bulb-shaped crown, was begun in 1800 by Petar Pavao Bruttapella and completed by his son Andrija. The choir holds Gaetano Moscatelli’s 1799 organ, the only one of his instruments still in regular use. Pause in front of the façade to appreciate the tower’s striking role in the town’s coastal silhouette.
