The Marton Museum was founded by collector Veljko Marton to make his collection accessible to the public and opened in Samobor in 2003 as Croatia’s first private museum. Its holdings comprise more than two thousand works of European decorative art, mainly from the 18th and 19th centuries, including porcelain, glass, silver, furniture, clocks and paintings. The museum occupies a historic Samobor manor house and is especially relevant to visitors interested in decorative arts, period interiors and collecting. The current Croatian museum register lists the institution as inactive, so anyone planning a visit should check in advance whether an arranged visit is possible.
