Križevci Cathedral

The Greek Catholic Cathedral of the Holy Trinity and the Bishop’s Residence form the centre of the Križevci Eparchy, based here since 1801. The complex rose on the remains of medieval Augustinian and Franciscan monasteries, while its present appearance was shaped by 18th- and 19th-century rebuilding, including a late-19th-century Neo-Gothic transformation. Inside, the painted iconostasis is the key feature, expressing the Byzantine rite practised in communion with the Catholic Church. The cathedral rewards visitors interested in Križevci’s religious history and artistic diversity, and offers a distinctly different sacred interior from the town’s Latin-rite churches.
