The Parish of the Good Shepherd in Brestje was established in 1977 from parts of the Sesvete and Zagreb–Retkovec parishes; its first worship space was a converted family house. The present church was built between 1992 and 1998, with furnishing and fitting-out continuing until 2002. Cardinal Josip Bozanić consecrated it on 2 May 2004. Its exterior was renewed in 2009 and its interior in 2014. The church reflects Brestje’s growth from a newer Sesvete neighbourhood into an independent parish community. It stands on Ciklama Street, close to central Sesvete.
