Chapel of the Blessed Virgin Mary
About
The Chapel of the Blessed Virgin Mary of the Way stands beside the Bliznec stream at the end of the roughly 800-metre educational Bliznec Forest Trail, near the Medvednica Nature Park administration building. It opened in 1993, following an idea by forestry expert Herbert Krauthacker. Its open-air setting is arranged like a small grotto, with a wooden statue of the Virgin, an image of Mary and the Child based on Rome’s Madonna della Strada, a prayer kneeler and a place for candles. Visitors reach it along a trail with small bridges and wooden walkways; during Lent, it marks the end of the Stations of the Cross walked by the parish from Bešići.
