About
The Holy Trinity Orthodox Church on Ante Trumbić Street is a key feature of Bjelovar’s historic centre. Built between 1792 and 1795, it is a single-nave Baroque-Neoclassical building with a rectangular plan and rounded sanctuary; the bell tower on its west front was added in 1822. Hermann Bollé directed restoration work around the turn of the 20th century. In 1902, wall paintings and an iconostasis enriched the interior, with work associated with Celestin Medović, Marko Peroš and Ivan Tišov. Listed as protected cultural property Z-2447, the church is significant not only for its architecture but also for its role in the townscape. Its exterior is easily viewed while exploring central Bjelovar.
