About
Kamačnik is a deeply cut stream valley just outside Vrbovsko, protected as a significant landscape. A maintained entrance leads onto a walking path that follows the water through shaded woodland, past rock faces, wooden crossings and rapids. The gorge supports rare protected plants, notably yew, an endangered tree species in Gorski kotar. Its appeal lies in the close meeting of water, steep canyon walls and well-preserved forest. It suits visitors looking for an unhurried nature walk and close observation of the stream environment. Sturdy footwear is advisable, as the route runs beside water and across uneven ground.
