Manita peć lies at 570 metres above sea level in Paklenica National Park. Of the Park’s known speleological sites, it is the only cave open to visitors on guided tours. It has been prepared for visits since 1937, and its broad chambers contain stalactites, stalagmites and other calcite formations. The entrance is reached on foot from the Velika Paklenica car park, with the ascent taking about an hour and a half. A visit pairs naturally with a hike through the Velika Paklenica canyon and is especially rewarding for travellers wishing to see the underground karst landscape of Velebit.
