Aenona was the ancient town occupying the site of present-day Nin. Following an earlier Liburnian settlement, a Roman municipality developed here with a forum, temple and ordered street network. Surviving remains in the historic centre show that Nin's medieval churches are far from its oldest layer. Combine the archaeological sites with the Museum of Nin Antiquities, whose objects help explain the fragmentary walls and foundations visible outside. Aenona is best understood as an urban historical landscape: Roman traces lie within the inhabited town, alongside the later buildings of Nin's historic islet.
