Tito’s Cave lies above the hamlet of Borovik, below Hum, the highest peak on the island of Vis. The site was formerly known as Duhova Cave and was renamed after Josip Broz Tito, who stayed here in 1944, when the cave served as the headquarters of the Partisan army. It is a group of rock shelters set in Vis’s rugged inland landscape, combining wartime history with an outing on the approach to Hum. Visitors reach Borovik by road through the island’s interior, then follow the marked access path to the cave. It is particularly rewarding for travellers interested in memorial heritage and hiking.
